Welcome!

Welcome to my new little corner of the web! I'm a portrait photographer in Snohomish County, Washington (that's in the Seattle area, for those who aren't familiar with our neck of the woods.) I specialize in portraits that celebrate life's most important moments and relationships, and I absolutely love my job!

From the joy of expectant motherhood, through the miracle of a new baby and the magic of childhood, to the life-changing time that is senior year of high school, life is full of never-to-be-repeated moments. Once the moment is over, all that is left is a fading memory, and hopefully, a great photograph. My job, and my joy, is to preserve those memories forever, and to create beautiful decor for your home in the process.

If you aren't familiar with my work, you can see a little bit of what I do here on the blog. For more information, you can also check out my website at Anne Raker Photography, or visit my galleries at maternity portraits, baby portraits, child portraits, and senior portraits.

When I'm not in my studio, I love hanging out with my hubby and daughter (that's her on the right), watching Law & Order, Grey's Anatomy and 24, and singing and dancing around the living room (usually to Hannah Montana CDs with my daughter!)

So grab a cup of coffee and a piece of your favorite chocolate, and enjoy the portraits! If you have any questions, please give the studio a call at 425.350.3738 and we'll be happy to answer them!

Bathtime Bliss…

This little one makes it nearly impossible for me not to smile. Have you ever seen a happier face? :) I have spent the last year photographing this precious little one. She was born several months early, and gave her parents some gray hairs, I’m sure, but you’d never know it by looking at her sweet face!  Spunky Miss A., you are such a doll! :)

Under construction…

I’m giving the blog a little makeover, so if things look funky at times over the next week or so, you’ll know why! I am kind of sick of the little swirly things, so they were the first thing to go (see the lovely new stripes?) but I am going to be re-doing the header and some other things as well… check back in a week or so to see!

Calling the Class of 2009!

Summer is almost here (not that you’d know it by our weather lately!), and it’s time to start thinking about senior portraits for the Class of 2009! Yearbook deadline is so early in the school year, that if you want to have your senior portrait in the yearbook, we need to schedule your senior portraits for this summer. Don’t wait and risk missing the chance to get your portrait in the yearbook!

As incentive to get your portrait session planned before we get too far into the summer season, I have a very special offer running for one day only - next Tuesday, June 10th. Pick any of my senior portrait sessions (the Mini, the Basic or the Complete session) and take 50% off your session fee! This applies to Class of 2009 seniors only, and is available on Tuesday, June 10th only. So, talk it over with your parents and then give me a call. Be sure to have your calendar and a credit card ready when you call, to book your date.

(And, okay… if you are from LSHS and got the insert in the Valhalla, you know about the super-secret offer that applies from now until closing time on June 9th… but that’s a secret! Shhhh!)

Finally, I want to introduce the first of my two Senior Spokesmodels from the Class of 2009 at LSHS! This is Brittney. I had so much fun working with her, and can’t wait until our next session this summer! Enjoy her mini-session portraits, and look for more to come this summer!

Blog Slacker winner!

I am definitely a blog slacker, and Cassie H. won $25 to use at her next session by pointing it out!! Congratulations Cassie! It had been two weeks since my last blog entry, so I was well overdue. :)

Don’t forget, if I go more than 5 days without posting, send me an email with the words “Blog Slacker!” in the subject line, and you’ll win $25 to use at your next session, too!

Cassie and her fellow staff members at the LSHS Valhalla are AMAZING, and I am so grateful to them! I put a little insert in the senior edition of the paper, and the printer who was printing my insert didn’t get them to me until Monday. The paper’s distribution day was Wednesday, so Cassie and her crew hand-stuffed the inserts into the paper for me! I was blown away that they would do that for me. Thank you all soooo much! The crew at the Valhalla rocks!

Very sad news… in honor of Maria Sue Chapman

Steven Curtis Chapman (musician and adoption advocate) and his family lost their youngest daughter, Maria, yesterday afternoon in a tragic accident. She was 5 years old.

I have been a fan of Steven’s music, and his beautiful voice, for many years. I remember vividly the first time I heard this song, written for Maria and her sister Stevey Joy. It is so moving. This video has the song, and the story behind it in Steven’s words. It’s especially poignant today, in light of yesterday’s tragedy, and I felt compelled to share it.

Squeeze your loved ones a little tighter tonight and tell them you love them, and if you pray, please say a prayer for the Chapman family.

Baby C

This little guy is so sweet! He came in just for a special football portrait, since his daddy is a big football fan. This is one of my favorite poses for newborn baby boys, and it can only be done during the first couple of weeks of life, so I was thrilled to be able to create this special memory for little baby C’s family to cherish!

50th Anniversary Celebration!

Congratulations to the Chisholms on their 50th wedding anniversary! I had the privilege of creating this portrait of the couple with their children to kick off the celebration yesterday. I hope my husband and I are as happy and full of life and love as these two were when we reach that milestone! Wishing you both 50 more beautiful years together! :)

Max and Mac

We had a wild afternoon yesterday when these two stopped by for a portrait together! They are three, and are both little bundles of energy! I think they gave their Daddy a workout, and I know they gave me one! But how could you resist a couple of smiles like theirs??

Miss Photogenic

This is Miss Ellie, otherwise known as Miss Catherine Creek, who came to me for portraits to enter into the Miss Photogenic competition in the Miss Aquafest pageant. She’s only four, but is already a total natural in front of the camera. She was a delight to work with! I am in love with her gorgeous red hair and blue eyes. Whether she wins the pageant competition or not, she’s definitely Miss Photogenic in my eyes! :) Best luck, Ellie - you’re going to do great!

More Megs!

As promised, here is a much bigger showcase of Miss Megs. The slideshow is up for today only (Saturday, April 19), so that Meghan herself can take a peek at the portraits and pick her favorites, since she’s all the way across the country now. After today, the full show will come down, but something else will probably take its place… ;) This may be the only time you ever see a full session on my blog, so this is kind of a big deal. :) Click the arrow to watch the show!
